21/10/09 - Fowler McKenzie Achieve Awards

At the recent Kalzip Teamkal Conference held at Carden Park Hotel & Conference Facility in Wales, Fowler McKenzie Limited were Highly Commended for the Anderson Housing Development in Inverness in the following Categories
- Best Kalzip Project under 1500m2
- Best Use of Fabrications

We have also just been awarded the following projects: -

4 no Residential Blocks for Devanha Housing at Arran Avenue in Aberdeen, using Kalzip Aluplus Patina (a pre-weathered finished Kalzip), including rainwater goods which continues our working relationship with Banchory Contractors.

Roofing, rainwater management, perimeter detailing for the New Fish Veterinary & Aquarium Facility in Victoria Road, again using Kalzip.

This is our first project with Barr Construction and we look forward to developing an ongoing working relationship.

MD Phil McKenzie commets; " It is heartening in this economic climate that customers were continuing to consider the benefit of using quality materials, backed up by a quality suppliers and installed by approved & trained contractors."

"Whilst there is still a large degree of despondency within the industry and Contractors operating on extremely low margins, it is key that projects such as these which are funded by Government and Developers continue to look at Best Value and Product selection when awarding projects."

12/06/09  - Lochaber High School

Morrison Construction, Inverness has appointed Fowler McKenzie to supply the roofing, cladding and rainwater management systems to a the new games hall and changing facilities at Lochaber High School.

We will be using Kalzip stand and seam roofing and Kingspan top deck.  The project will commence mid July 2009 and is due for completion 2010.  We are delighted to continue and develop our relationship with Morrison Construction.

11/05/09  - New Director Announced

John Lloyd formerly Contracts Manager has now been promoted to Contract Director.

John is relishing his new position, and is looking forward to continuing the promotion of Fowler McKenzie Limited as the North of Scotland's leading Roofing and Cladding Contractor.

Managing Director, Phil McKenzie said, "This position is perfect for John as his knowledge of our systems and clients is first class.  He will grow into his new role and continue his outstanding work for us, and our customers."

31/03/09  - Retirement

One of The founders of Fowler McKenzie handed in his work boots and switched off his calculator for the last time on the 11th March.

Les Fowler who had completed over 42 years in the roofing industry finally decided to call it a day and retire.

On a personal note Phil McKenzie who has worked with Les for over 32 of those 42 years said " It was quite an emotional day when we finally concluded all necessary paperwork etc, and to come into the office and not hear Les singing or whistling will be strange" I have worked with Les for longer than I have been married, and whilst we had a very amicable parting indeed, I now think I know what divorce would feel like.

Both Les and Hilda were presented with gifts, contributed to by all members of staff, both office and site, All the staff and we are sure Client's, Customers and Suppliers wish Les and his wife Hilda, a long and very happy retirement.

06/01/09 - New Year, New Positions

Phil McKenzie, formally Operations Director at Fowler McKenzie Limited has taken on the position of Managing Director as of 1st January 2009.  Phil, one of the company’s original founders, is taking over from Les Fowler who is due to retire in March 2009.  Phil is excited about the new role and is hoping to continue the success and growth of Fowler McKenzie in the coming years.

20/10/08 - Local Company Receives Special Mention

At the recent Team Kal Awards ceremony for all approved Kal Zip Contractors (held at Carden Park Cheshire) tradition was broken with a Special Award to local businessman Les Fowler, Managing Director of Fowler McKenzie Limited.

Before the presentation dinner commenced, there was a video presentation showing some of the achievements of Mr Fowler in his commitment and services to the industry throughout his long and distinguished career, with kind words from people within the Local Construction Industry.

Mr Fowler was presented with a gift from Corus Kalzip Managing Director, Jonathon Clemens who said “that he could think of no better recipient for this Special Award as his contribution throughout the years was exemplary and fully well deserved.”

Les Fowler was probably for the first time in his life speechless, and very humbled at being singled out for the award.

26/05/08- Fowler McKenzie sponsor Oldmachar Academy Golf Week

Fowler McKenzie and their supply chain partners SFS Intec Sponsored a Golf Activity Week for 31 Pupils from Oldmachar Academy, Aberdeen. The event took place at the DeVere -  Belton Woods Hotel and Country Club, Grantham and a very good week good weather was enjoyed by all.

Each player received a Golf Sweater from SFS Intec and Fowler McKenzie provided the trophies for the three section winners and a selection of gift vouchers.

28/04/08- McKenzie Limited earn Mansell Supply Chain Annual Safety Award

As the result of the continual monitoring of the Safety Standards of Sub-Contractors Mansell Aberdeen have awarded their annual supply chain safety award to Fowler McKenzie Limited, Cladding Specialists and Consultants. The award is judged on the content and standard of the Health and Safety information submitted by sub-contractors for projects being carried out for Mansell and most importantly the safety performance and systems employed by the sub-contractors personnel on site during the Construction period.
